Position Summary
New Mexico Highlands University (NMHU) is seeking a candidate for an Assistant or Associate Professor in Public Health, Health Promotion, or Health Education who is committed to making a difference in the lives of college students at an historic New Mexico University.
The Department of Exercise and Sport Sciences offers a Bachelor's of Arts in Human Performance in Sport and a Bachelor's of Arts in Health. The Health degree has two tracks including; 1) Pre-Professional Allied Health and 2) Health Promotion and Wellness. We currently have a minor in health.
Duties and Responsibilities
In addition to teaching primarily in the areas of health promotion and education, other teaching responsibilities may include courses such as Personal/Community Health; Managing Stress; Health and Sex Education; and Nutrition. The candidate is expected to develop and build curriculum in public health, health promotion, and/or health education.
Summer teaching is optional, based on personal interests and departmental needs. Faculty are expected to maintain office hours and have a regular presence on campus.
The successful candidate must have a strong interest in working with diverse students of different cultural backgrounds. The ideal candidate will have complimentary competencies in Human Diseases, US Mexico Border Health Issues, Public Health and Wellness, Multicultural Health, General Health Education, and Epidemiology. Selection of courses to be taught will depend on the clinical and educational background of the candidate. The incumbent in this position will have responsibilities of conducting scholarly activities as well as serving professionally on University, local, state, regional, and national levels.
Minimum Qualifications
Doctorate in Public Health, Community Health, Health Promotion, Health Education, or related field. ABD will be considered.
Must be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
a) Experience teaching undergraduate and graduate coursework in a wide variety of public health, health promotion, and/or health education related areas.
b) Experience preparing students for the CHES examination.
c) Experience developing internship/practicum opportunities and conducting professional development activities in public health, health promotion, and/or health education.
d) Scholarly work and/or grant 'writing in public health, health promotion, and/or health education.
e) Experience providing outreach to first generation college students or students from underrepresented minority.
f) Experience teaching with using teaching technology, preferably Bright Space and or Zoom.
g) Experience in writing/building curriculum in public health, health promotion, and/or health education.
h) Experience with teaching or researching the various issues involved with the southern United States border.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of course content; ability to organize course material and deliver course content that takes into account student needs; can provide corrective feedback; has sufficient time to prepare for class and grade assignments; and ability using teaching technology preferably Bright Space

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
